Spit it out!

Yesterday taught me that eliminating the excess time I have to put things off prior to starting my writing process is critical.
In class, last night, we spoke about reviewing fashion shows. At the end of the lecture, the professor surprised us with an assignment. She handed out look books of a Ralph Lauren 2008 cruise collection and in 40 minutes we would have to produce a review and turn in a final product. This would serve to mimic the fashion reviewers’ tight deadlines and propensity to work in real time.
This assignment shocked me but I killed it- I ripped it apart and left little room for poor RL. I compared the paisley print fabric to textiles that “had been curated from grandma’s patchwork quilt archives.”. I had a lot of fun and learned about my own creative process- so much so that I began writing this post as soon as I exited class.
The juices are flowing! I am alive!
Happy Thursday!
