The Artifice of Being a Woman

How many of us simply take a shower, get dressed and walk out the door?

Being a woman takes work- you have to put forth that effort but you better look like you are not trying. We are invested in making it look effortless. Many of us are blessed with “natural” beauty. But how many of us are in that “untouched” state. We must always groom, prod, cajole our features into what we find pleasing to our eye.

Who plucks their eyebrows? Takes care of their mustache? <—Who will admit to this? Who colors their hair? Height "problem"- for that there's heels. For a belly or unsightly gut- get spanx-ed. For a ghostly appearance- try blush (Orgasm by Nars has a cult following- you’re welcome).

There are all these expectations and assumptions about appearances. What I say to that is- don’t get caught up in the hype.

Be happy, be you. Take what you like and leave what you don’t. The most important thing is for you to be comfortable in your own skin. OWN IT. Confidence is the most beautiful thing and it can only be derived from the comfort that comes from being in your own happy skin.
